I had gone Mata Vaishno Devi last month and like you people I also tried to get to know that is there any train available to go from jammu to Katra. I found that there is no train available right now to go Jammu to Katra and eventually when i went to Mata Vaishno devi via bus route. Then i saw that the process was under construction. To my mind, it will take some more time to get these facilities. Till that Buses are only one way to reach Mata Vaishno Devi. Bus journey is also very interesting,you can see many beautiful scenes in the way. It takes only 1 or 1.30 hour to reach Mata Vaishno Devi from Jammu to Katra. Jammu to Katra fare is 50-60 rupees varies according to buses but maximum is 60 rupees for Non- Ac buses. We will update when trains will be available to go Shri Mata Vaishno Devi.

Visit Indian railways website to search for trains. I would like to tell you that you can also get direct trains to Katra from Pathankot City Railway station, you can easily get seat from Pathankot City Railway station than Jammu station because all trains first come to Pathankot City Station( Most of trains are unreserved).
Please Note: Do not go Pathankot Cant Railway Station because you can get direct trains to Katra from Pathankot City Railway Station. You can get timing of trains from Indian railway website.

How to Reach Pathankot City Railway Station From Pathankot Cant Railway Station

Distance between PTK(city) station to PTKC(cant) is 5KMs (approx). You can easily get auto’s from Pathankot cant. The fare to go from PTKC to PTK is 10 rupees per passenger.
